Amica (they/them) is your basic multi-layered mammalian organism - a creaking calcium scaffolding, wrapped in wet pulsing blood tubes and layers of raw meat, all dipped in a skin coating and rolled in hair. Like some sort of effed up, sentient, caramel apple. An all-purpose weirdo and Creator of Thingsβ„’, Amica’s interests include cute living creatures, cute dead creatures, bad movies, tree climbing, napping, pranking their gynocologist, and gluing baby doll limbs to shoes. They dropped out of college to attend clown school and never looked back. Amica enjoys pointing out the absurdity of things we take for granted, and our arbitrary systems of judgment that so often value all the wrong things. Often things that appear monstrous are actually quite sweet and gentle, and things that appear innocent and are deemed beautiful and are actually grotesque and horrifying.

ABOUT
Amica

Amica Hunter (they/them) is a nonbinary, queer, multidisciplinary artist and performer who has been devising, performing, and producing clown shows since 2012. They grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where, as a small child, they set up a stand on the street, not to sell lemonade, but to vend their hand-crafted sculpey Lawn Gnome Skulls to passerbys (the idea was that the gnomes have long pointy skulls, which is what keeps their hats in that iconic upright cone shape). Amica spent their adolescence vaulting (gymnastics on horseback), acting in school plays, painting, sculpting, swing dancing, and climbing trees. They are a graduate of the San Francisco Circus Center's Clown Conservatory Program under director Joe Dieffenbacher, and a co-founder of the 20x award winning physical comedy duo, A Little Bit Off, which has created and toured shows around the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. As a performer, Amica seeks to create experiences that feel raw, surreal, and electric - they want the audience to find themselves enjoying a world they would have never imagined choosing to enter.
